Last week was everything December is supposed to be. It was cold, and Christmas decorations were everywhere, and Hannah and Ben’s Romare Bearden Park engagement session was perfect! They were calling for rain all day, but the rain stayed away, and we just had a nice evenly cloudy day. We started at one of my favorite parks, and from there we hit a couple of the best festive spots in Uptown. I can’t wait to show you this gorgeous engagement session, but, before I do I have a little story to tell you.
Ben had a plan. It was a good plan, too. He was going to take Hannah to the Planetarium in Chapel Hill, NC, and it was going to be perfect. But when they got downtown they discovered that every. Single. Parking garage was full thanks to a football game that day. So Ben had to do a little quick thinking. They found a local little farm that served ice cream and then went out to a nice dinner (because when you’re about to propose to the girl of your dreams DESSERT FIRST is most definitely the way to go!).
And then, with Hannah none the wiser, they ended up at a gazebo near Duke University’s campus. It was beautiful and special and memorable and then, when the exact moment finally arrived, Ben knelt down and asked Hannah to marry him. She said an enthusiastic, “YES!” And then Ben whisked her away to a surprise engagement party where friends and family were waiting to celebrate and share their joy.
Perfection.
I first met Hannah earlier this summer when she was a bridesmaid in her cousin’s wedding. I thoroughly enjoyed working with her that day and just really loved the sweet way she joyously celebrated her cousin. A couple of months later Ben proposed!! Hannah reached out to me, and I am THRILLED!!
We decided on a Romare Bearden Park engagement session for a couple of reasons. It has the best skyline. Beautiful gardens surround this pretty urban park. And I knew the Christmas decorations would be up. As I said, it was perfect.
Hannah and Ben, spending an afternoon with the two of you was pure joy. Your grace and kindness are evident from the moment you say hello, and the sweet way you love one another is just beautiful. I am so excited for your future together and, of course, for your June wedding! Have the merriest of merry Christmases, and I’ll see you very soon!!
