A Charlotte Love Story: Michelle and JP

Mama Knows Best

A love story can start at any time. The beginning of this particular love story started as a typical spring day. Michelle got ready and went to work at the office where she’s a nurse. She took wonderful, loving care of her patients just as she always does. She smiled and chatted and gave each one the dignity every human deserves. But one of those patients was different. One of those patients really connected with Michelle, and right then and there, while Michelle was “supposed” to be performing routine care, this sweet lady dropped a bomb on her.

“Can I have your phone number? Because you would be perfect for my son.” Michelle maybe laughed a little but went along with it. After all, what could it hurt?

Mama Was Right

A couple days later, a Facebook message popped up in Michelle’s notifications. It was from a man named JP, and his mom had given him her contact information. One message turned into countless messages until finally they met. Michelle and JP hit it off right away. It turns out that Mama was right: they were perfect for one another. It was the perfect love story.

The Engagement

A few months later, JP and Michelle were on a date. It was a pretty typical evening, and they ended up at one of their favorite parks. Michelle could tell that JP was acting funny, but she had no idea what he had planned.

“You know how you say that you’re going to steal my last name?” JP asked her.

“Yeeeaaahhh…?”

And before she could even question where he was going with it all, he dropped down to one knee. When Michelle recounted their love story to me, she said, “Oh no. It wasn’t just a ‘yes’ for me. I said ‘Absolutely!!'” And now, when planning their wedding, Michelle told me, “I thought I wasn’t getting married, so we’re having a party!”

A Woodsy Engagement Session

When Michelle and I started planning their engagement session, she and JP just fell in love with McDowell Nature Preserve. After one rain/mud postponement, we finally got to meet for their portraits last weekend! And you know those people who, when you meet them, you think to yourself that nicer people have never lived? Well, that’s Michelle and JP. They are two kind, compassionate people, and their excitement to marry and begin life together is obvious from the first moment you meet them!

Michelle and JP, I LOVED hanging out with you two, taking your engagement portraits last weekend. Marriage is such a blessing; I am so excited for the two of you, and I wish you all the best as you plan your dream wedding!!
