A white barn sits up on a hill nestled amongst the Smoky Mountains of western NC. A small brook laughs at the bottom of the hill, and a weeping willow adds its own elegance to the whole scene. This barn is what vintage barn wedding dreams are made of, and Amanda and Sean’s day was above and beyond.
They met on match.com, and their first date was with their puppers at a local dog park. He thought she talked too much. She thought he talked too little. But, something drew them to one another anyway, and they continued to see each other. Their relationship grew. Then, during one of Florida’s recent hurricanes, Amanda stayed over at Sean’s house. They still joke today about how she never really moved back out after that. 🙂 And then one night not too long after that while just laying in bed talking, Sean slipped a certain question into the conversation.
“Amanda, will you marry me?”
She said yes. 🙂
Amanda and Sean knew they wanted a mountain wedding. They knew they wanted their day to reflect their own passions and interests. And they knew they wanted every aspect of the day to have meaning. So, Amanda designed the whole day herself. She had more ideas than she could even put into place, and, when they were visiting the NC Smokies they decided on a whim to visit a little barn they’d found online. They didn’t know that the venue owners/operators lived on site, so they drove over one afternoon. Amanda and Sean ended up meeting the owners and absolutely falling in love with the setting. They booked that week.
Once they had their venue nailed down, Amanda was free to start her crafting. Every detail, from the copper wire accents to the Star Wars themes, was significant. And every detail was so beautifully done. And, more importantly, the day itself was full of everything a wedding day should hold: joy, love, laughter, and lots of dancing. 🙂
Amanda and Sean, you are two of the warmest, most welcoming, and most fun people I’ve ever met! The way you laugh together, and even the way you interact with one another’s family is so special. It’s clear to see that you not only love one another well but that you also love one another’s family well and have embraced them as your own. Thank you for trusting me with your beautiful day. I LOVED celebrating with you, and I wish you every joy, every blessing, and every ounce of happiness a lifetime can bring. May the Force be with you.
And, if you love a barn wedding as much as I do, check out this stunner from May!
