An Exciting Engagement

Penha and Andy went sky-diving together earlier this year. She thought it was “just” a fun date, but, right when the excitement should have been ending, Andy surprised her with the most exciting thing of all. He asked her to marry him, and, standing there in that field, parachutes barely unclipped, she said, “yes.” And so began a new season: their engagement!

And they’re no strangers to new seasons, either. Bravery. Courage. Flying in the face of fear. For Penha and Andy, that looks like a lot of things. As part of the Army’s Airborn Division, it looks like jumping out of planes in the name of something you believe in. Sometimes it looks like being sent to a new and unfamiliar place to defend that thing you believe in. It looks like the possibility of deployment and unknowns and being far from home.

A New Season

In this season of their life, it also looks like getting down on one knee to ask the person you love the most the biggest question of your life. It looks like trusting someone with your heart and committing to love them for always. And, this they do exceptionally well. Just wait until you see them!! The way they look at each other; the way they so clearly trust one another completely; the way they’re most comfortable when they’re together. During their entire engagement session, I just kept marveling at the way they relaxed into each other and were so confident.

Andy and Penha are kind, fun to be around, brave, beautiful, and so perfect together. It’s clear to me that he treats her like a queen, and she looks at him like he hung the moon. I loved spending an afternoon with them, and I can’t WAIT for their May wedding at one of Boone’s most beautiful venues! I know it’s going to be gorgeous.
