Aubrey and Te’Darryl’s Hurricane Wedding

Hurricane Florence brought a wet and windy weekend to  Charlotte a couple of weeks ago, but that didn’t stop Aubrey and Te’Darryl from having a beautiful wedding in the midst of it. They’ve known each other since their freshman year of college, and several things were completely obvious to me based solely on their day: they love each other so very, very much; they love their friends and family so very, very well; their friends and family know and return that love. The stories that were shared made even me cry! And her Daddy had the sweetest reaction to giving his little girl away; just editing the pictures from it brought tears to my eyes again.

Truly, though, I already considered Aubrey and Te’Darryl to be one of the kindest, most genuine, most beautiful couples I’ve ever worked with, but being a part of their wedding day just made that even more clear. The maid of honor was so happy for her best friend and couldn’t stop smiling the whole day; she proudly stood beside her, helped with her dress, and shared stories of braving high school together. The best man shared about all the times Te’Darryl has come through for him; from riding to school together to even opening up his own home! And both speeches centered on how perfectly they compliment one another. They’re compassionate and caring; they’re fun and love to laugh; they’re beautiful and so incredibly in love.

I will always love being there on the day a couple becomes a family, but Aubrey and Te’Darryl’s wedding was even more than that. Not only did Aubrey’s family welcome Te’Darryl and Te’Darryl’s family welcome Aubrey, but their families welcomed each other, too! And it wasn’t the obligatory type of welcome either; these two families came together and partied. Everyone was dancing and having so much fun celebrating together! The whole day was so full of joy, love, excitement, and celebration that even a perfect stranger walking in would have felt at home.

So, Aubrey and Te’Darryl, thank you! For letting me be a part of your day, for letting me tell your story. You two have a beautiful life ahead! Congratulations! I wish you every blessing!
